About This Screen
This check is adapted from subscales of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981), the most extensively researched burnout instrument. The MBI measures three core dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization or cynicism, and reduced personal accomplishment. Burnout, as defined by the WHO in ICD-11, is an occupational phenomenon resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.
Burnout is not a mental disorder, but it frequently co-occurs with depression, anxiety, and sleep problems. A high score on this check is a signal to address workplace conditions and seek support. It should not replace a comprehensive clinical evaluation if mental health symptoms are present.
