Over the past 2 weeks, how often have you been bothered by the following?
1. Feeling nervous, anxious, or on edge
2. Not being able to stop or control worrying
About This Screener
This screener reproduces the GAD-2, the first two items of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7) developed by Spitzer, Kroenke, Williams, and Lowe (2006). A score of 3 or higher has been validated as the optimal cutoff for detecting generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and PTSD.
The GAD-2 has a sensitivity of 86% and specificity of 83% for generalized anxiety disorder. If you screen positive, a full anxiety assessment using the GAD-7 or a clinical interview is recommended.
